Once we return from February half-term, I will be setting a mock paper for Paper 2: Exploring Film Outside Hollywood - where you will have to focus on The Devil's Backbone directed by Guillermo Del Toro.
Before half-term we will have covered all the notes and it is important that you revise them thoroughly during the break. Remember to focus on character, themes, representations and setting, and think about points to discuss related to camerawork, editing, sound and mise-en-scene.
You may be asked to discuss, in a degree of detail, key scenes from the film in relation to character, theme, representation or setting - I will be posting scenes with analysis on the blog in the next few days, so keep an eye out for them. Read my notes on these scenes carefully as you may be asked to discuss at least one of them in detail.
Also - remember that the last question requires you to focus on explaining why your peers should see the film. Look carefully at the notes I have given you and prepare a generic answer that covers your reasons for enjoying the film, mentioning key scenes, themes and characters and outlining the ways in which this film is different from what viewers may be used to from Hollywood.
